Obituary of Donald "Don" Franklin Boyd
Donald Franklin "Don" Boyd, age 78 longtime Goodwater Community, OK resident passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Idabel, OK. Don was born on August 31, 1940 in Haworth, OK, the son of Lester F Boyd and Ethel Mae Farley Boyd.
Don was a rancher and loved working and spending time on his ranch. He managed Mendenhall's Lumber for many years.
He enjoyed horseback riding, especially trail rides in the mountains with his riding buddies. When younger he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Don was a member of the Bypass Church of Christ and a lifetime McCurtain County resident..
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 51 years, Shirley Boyd in 2011; a granddaughter, Heather Boyd in 2000; a brother, Jimmy Boyd; his border collie, "Piper" and his horse, "Buck".
Don leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Brenda Boyd of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Starlet and Brent Mattox of Sallisaw, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carri Boyd of the Redland Community; a brother, Bobby and Maria Boyd of Evans, GA; step-children, Schellye Bryant, Kellye Blankenship, Kim Bryant, James Bryant and Shawna Bowen; grandchildren and spouses, Tiffany and Jeff Sullivan of Norman, OK, Suzanne and Gary Pruitt of Sallisaw, OK and Morgan and Kyle Rogers of Stillwater, OK; great-grandchildren, Cooper Evan Cox, Starlet Presley Pruitt, Bella Sullivan, Alyssa Sullivan, Emmaline Sullivan, Bennett Sullivan, Garrett Pruitt, Garrison Pruitt, Grant Pruitt, and Grace Pruitt; 16 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren; his border collie, "Sandy"; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Bypass Church of Christ in Idabel. OK with Jerry Falling, Wayne Warren and Larry Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow at the Redland Cemetery in the Redland Community, OK.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the funeral home.
