Obituary of Jerry R Keeney

Jerry R. Keeney Sr., age 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his home in the Shinewell Community, OK. He was born on June 14, 1941 in Goodwater, OK, the son of Onvil and Romey Keeney. He was a 1959 graduate of Haworth High School. He married Betty Cooper, the love of his life on June 4, 1963 in Houston, TX. Jerry was a veteran of the US Army. He had spent most of his life in Houston, TX where he worked as a land surveyor for 23 years. Jerry moved back to McCurtain County in 2007. He enjoyed fishing in his pond and sitting on his front porch watching the wildlife. Jerry loved when his grandchildren would visit and he could spend time with them. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #1299 in Houston, TX and was affiliated with the Pentecostal Faith. Jerry was a devoted husband, daddy and papaw and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Josh Keeney. Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty Keeney of the Shinewell Community, OK; his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry “Ronny” Keeney and Adrianne of North Dakota; his daughter; Sherry L. Keeney of the Shinewell Community; a brother, Everett Darrell Keeney of Houston, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Schmalz of Houston, TX, Kathy and Ray Mays of Ardmore, OK and Donna and Tom Hill of Streetman, TX; grandchildren; Joey Mosley, Taylor Castro, Justin Keeney, Morgan Jones, Dakota Jones and Alexia Keeney; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
