Obituary of John R Denison

John R. "Jay" Denison, age 82, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Idabel, OK, the firstborn son of John and Mary Ella Sullivan Denison. John attended school in Idabel and worked at the young age of 12 at the Sale Barn. After 21 years of service in the Air Force and the National Guard Reserves, he retired and returned home and enrolled in school at Okmulgee Tech to become an electrician. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, poppy and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, W. B. "Hoppy" Denison and Ricky Denison; and sisters, Doris Brown and Gale Martin. John is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; son, Roger Denison and wife, Judy, of Idabel; granddaughters, Renee Purcell and husband, Robby, Cassie Denison, Kaitlin Smith and Zach and Kameron Caudle; great-great-grandchildren, Ethan Purcell, Emalyn Purcell, Zayah Barker, Elijah Smith, Zeke Smith, and Kacelynn Caudle; brother, James "Jimmy" Denison; sister-in-law, Virginia Denison; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
