She was united in marriage to Ronald Hurley and to this union three children were born; Jamie, Venessa and Gene Alan Hurley. In 1966 Jean along with her family moved back to the Tom Community. She was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Phillip Clark Weathers the 9th day of August 1967 by Rev. Miles Wesner. To this union a daughter, Leanne was born. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized and became a member of the Tom Baptist Church. Jean was a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She was blessed with a wonderful Church family that she loved very much. Jean and her husband owned and operated Weathers Grocery Store. They made their home in Tom with their four children, Jamie, Venessa, Alan and Leanne. She often recalled the years spent together with her husband and children were some of the happiest years of her life. After the loss of her beloved husband, Jean continued to raise their children in Tom. In the years to come, she continued her education by attending Carl Albert State University, where she received her Associates of Arts Degree and she received her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also received special endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies. From there, she went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Education. She worked in the Foreman, AR School District for a number of years. She enjoyed teaching and working with children. She was a kind and gentle soul, a soft spoken Christian lady who helped many in her lifetime. She had a kind word for all and was always there to listen. She was a dedicated daughter, caring for both her parents, until they were called home. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Loving God, Family and helping others was her mission in life. She had a great love of music, especially Gospel. She enjoyed reading, flowers, spending wonderful times with her family, friends and playing piano although she did not have formal lessons, she could play many selections by ear. She helped anyone she could always trying to see the best in people. A woman who walked in grace, showing mercy and forgiveness. A selfless person with great love and compassion, who never thought of what she needed but always thought of what others may need. She recalled many happy memories with her families in Texas and Oklahoma. She spent the last years of her life being cared for by her four loving children.
