Obituary of Laurence Barrett

Laurence Barrett, age 90, former Broken Bow, OK resident passed away on, June 13, 2017 at Idabel. He was born on June 19, 1926 in Garvin, OK, the son of Carl Barrett and Willie Ives Barrett. Laurence was a 1948 graduate of Valliant High School. On October 31, 1949 he married the love of his life, Virginia Faye Gragg. Laurence was a veteran of the US Army where he served in the South Pacific including the Philippine Islands. He owned and operated a moving company for several years in McCurtain County and was sometimes referred to as the "moving man". He enjoyed playing dominoes especially a good game of 42. Laurence was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Dr. Archie Barrett. Laurence is survived by his wife, Virginia Barrett of Idabel; daughter and son-in-law; Phyllis Davis and Freddy of Mt. Ida, AR; sons and daughters-in-law; Roger Barrett and Shelley of Dayton, WY, Donald Barrett and Judi of Idabel, Oklahoma and Larry Barrett of Midwest City, OK; daughter-in-law, Renee Barrett of Carthage, TX; grandchildren; Shelley Barrett, Jonathan Barrett, Dustin Barrett, Gail Timmons, D. V. Fennell and Philip Barrett; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.
