Obituary of Martha Lou Leonard

Martha Leonard, age 76 of Idabel, OK passed away on April 29, 2017 at Idabel. She was born on August 30, 1940, the daughter of Gillis and Mary (Townsend) Daniels. Martha was born and raised in the Redland Community. She was a 1958 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. She attended Southeastern in Durant where she met and married her soul mate, Chuck Leonard. They had a wonderful life together in which they raised three boys. Martha held several positions over the years from Social worker to City Manager of Coalgate, OK. but the funeral business was undoubtedly her passion. All total Martha spent over 40 years of her life helping to serve grieving families. She had a caring heart and helped many families through very tough times. She enjoyed bowling and cooking. Martha was a longtime member of the Idabel Country Club and was an avid golfer, and was known to play even after dark with lights of the golf cart. Martha loved supporting her grandchildren in their activities. She and her siblings had a very special bond and were beyond close, this was more than likely due to losing their father at a young age and the family rallying around their mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Chuck Leonard; and a niece, Tammi Farley. Martha is survived by her sons, Mike Leonard and his son, Colt Leonard and his mother, Dayna Leonard, Mitch Leonard and his daughter, Alex Leonard and her mother, Caccie, and Charlie and Tracey Leonard and her son Chace McBride; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Virgil Wake, Betty and Max Farley both of Idabel, OK, Carolyn and Mel Goodenough of New Braunfels, TX and Kay and Richard Raun of Montgomery, TX; a brother, Ray Daniels of Stillwater, OK; brother-in-law, Mickey and Thela Leonard of Idabel, OK; many other relatives and friends.
