Obituary of Roger Carrell

Roger Carrell, age 66, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home in the Pleasant Hill Community, OK. He was born on February 3, 1951 in Fairview, TN, the son of John Franklin Carrell and Pauline Hudgins Carrell. Roger and his wife, Rita were married on June 27, 1970 in Idabel, OK. Roger worked for McCurtain County District 2 for over 20 years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the casino, and playing with his dog, Sam. He was affiliated with the Pleasant Hill Community Church and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Carrell and Eugene Carrell; and sisters, Bonnie Staggs and Shirley Franks. Roger is survived by the love of his life, Rita, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin Carrell and Missy of Haworth, OK, Billy Ray Carrell and Jere of Bokhoma Community, OK, Paul Carrell and Aleshia of Broken Bow, OK and Roger “Nasty” Carrell and Kristi of Haworth, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica Parson and Gerald of Haworth, OK; brothers, Sonny Carrell of Clarksville, TX and Donnie “Dummy” Carrell and Gladys of Haworth, OK; sisters, Jewel Richardson and Jim of Haworth, OK Janie Rice and Otto Pace of Millerton, OK, Judy Rice of McAlester, OK and Christine Carrell and Jack of Clarksville, TX; a former daughter-in-law, Karen McCarty of Ector, TX; his beloved dog, Sam; 20 grandchildren;7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Roger Carrell.
