Obituary of Ruthie Mae Williston

Ruthie Mae Williston, age 90 of Idabel, OK passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Paris, TX. She was born on April 1, 1926 in the Kulli Tuklo Community, OK, the daughter of Leo Harley and Lena Battice Harley. Ruthie Mae was raised in the Kulli area and attended school at Marshall Hill and the Wheelock Academy. Ruthie Mae was a CNA and worked at McCurtain Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting. Ruthie Mae was very proud of her Choctaw Heritage and was known for cooking traditional Choctaw meals, her specialty being Banaha. Ruthie Mae was a devout Christian and an avid reader of her bible. Once her eyesight began to fail she used a very large magnifying glass so she could continue her study of God's word. She was a longtime active member of the Kulli Tuklo Methodist Church. Ruthie Mae was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always kind and put other's needs before her own, especially her family's. Taking care of family and spending time with her grandchildren brought her much joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William J Williston; a son, Larsen Williston; daughters, Brenda Kidd and Sonya Ruth Williston; her sisters, Lina Roberson and Ruby Washington; brothers, Roy Harley, Alfred Harley, Leo Harley Jr., Everett Harley and Virgil Harley; and a son-in-law, Edison Elliott.
