Obituary of John Marion Scott

John Marion "Vester" Scott Jr., age 81 passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on July 22, 1935 in the Redland Community, OK, the son of John and Ola Hendrix Scott. Scott was a 1954 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. He was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1954-1957. He attended college at San Diego State University in California earning his bachelor's degree in speech and literature. He and his wife Wanda were married on July 19, 1958 and they resided in Crest, CA until 1972 when they returned to the Redland Community. Scott was employed by Weyerhaeuser Company until retiring in 1999 after 27 years as a crew leader in the shipping department. Scott was a minister and member of the Church of Christ. He was a published author and wrote many historic stories about life and events in the Redland Community, OK. Scott is survived by his wife, Wanda Scott, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Collin Scott and Sharon of Blanchard, LA, K Mark Scott and Mandi of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Michael Scott and Maria of Shreveport, LA, Leigh Erin Long of Shreveport, LA, Jonah Ross Scott of Idabel, OK, Stormy Cotton of McAlester, OK, Tara Harwell of Bremen, GA, Tiffanie Kaiser of New Iberia, LA, Amber Prince of New Iberia, LA and Kortree Perkins of Waskom, TX; extended family, Jim and Kristin Green of Idabel, OK, Crew Green and Jessica of Idabel, OK; his sister, Janell Roscoe of Missouri; several other relatives and many friends.
