Obituary of Joe C Rogers

Joe C. Rogers, age 69 passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on May 3, 1947 in Paris, TX, the son of CE “Buster” Rogers and Betty Jo Starnes Rogers. Joe was a 1965 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. He attended East Central University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and received his degree in 1970. While at East Central he met Betty Bowen on a blind date and they were married on June 13, 1970 in Ft Worth, TX. Joe worked for Weyerhauser at the paper mill in Valliant, OK for over 20 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. Joe loved the outdoors whether it was working in his yard or just sitting on the front porch with his wife. He was an avid OU Sooner and Dallas Cowboy fan. Joe was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifetime Idabel resident. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joe is survived by his wife, Betty Rogers of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Charlie Rogers of Idabel, OK and Mike “Bean” Rogers and Andrea of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Abbie Rogers and Jackson Rogers both of McKinney, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Anne Rogers of Idabel, OK; several nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family is gathering and receiving friends at the home of the late Betty Jo Rogers (510 Ave E).
