Obituary of Alice Lorraine Allen

Alice Allen, age 95 passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Norman, OK. She was born on September 25, 1921 in the Cisco Community, OK, the daughter of John Wesley Epperson and Hettie McAfee Epperson. Alice was a 1938 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. She was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and attended college at Haskell College in Lawrence, KS. Alice took a position with the US Civil Service in Nebraska, this is where she met her husband, Gerard Allen of New York City who was in the military at the time. They were married on November 11, 1944 and they spent 64 wonderful years together until his death in 2008. After WWII they moved to New York City where they resided for 8 years before moving to Idabel, OK where she lived until her death. She worked for the OK Dept. of Human Services in both Choctaw and McCurtain Counties retiring out of McCurtain County as a supervisor. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel. She was an active member of the McCurtain Memorial Hospital Auxiliary serving as a pink lady for over 25 years. Alice enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her Husband, Gerard Allen in 2008; sons, Gerard Michael Allen and infant, Gerard Jr. Alice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Peggy Allen of Holdenville, OK; grandchildren, Patrick Allen and wife, Rebecca and their son, Tyler Swisher all of OKC, OK, Lorrianne M Allen of OKC, OK, Joshua Allen and Rondi and their children, Bailey, Parker and Carter all of Lewisville, TX; brother and sister-in-law, John and Ellen Epperson of the Cisco Community, OK; a sister, Marie Arrington of Terrell, TX; a niece and nephew, Jayne White and Joe Nathan Johnson; her favorite 1st cousin, Freda Wilburn of MWC, OK; many other relatives and friends.
