Obituary of JR Tom

JR “Gut” Tom, age 61, of Idabel, OK passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Paris, TX. He was born on March 12, 1955 in Talihina, OK, the son of John Tom and Encey Mae Brewer Tom. JR was a saw mill worker. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and telling them stories. He was affiliated with the Assemblies of God and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Tom; sisters, Lorene Viola Mooney and Clara Mae Tollison; and brothers, Calvin Tom, Jimmy Tom, Johnny Lee Tom and Walter Lee Tom. JR is survived by his sisters, Lowanda Gragg of Idabel, OK, Patricia Oden of Baytown, TX, Betty Montgomery of Hugo, OK and Vanessa Tom of Clarksville, TX; brothers, Melvin Tom of Broken Bow, OK, James Tom of Poteau, OK and Christopher Tom of Idabel, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
