Obituary of Diryl Johnson

Diryl D. Johnson, age 94 of the Redland Community went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Idabel. He is now reunited with the love of his life, and wife of 72 years, Lorene McKee Johnson. Diryl was born on August 7, 1921 in Jadie, OK, the son of Tom and Josie Britt Johnson. He married Lorene McKee on December 24, 1941. He was a strong Christian man who never waivered from his beliefs. Diryl and Lorene were faithful members of Faith Assembly of God Church in Idabel. The outbreak of WWII for America came in 1941 and Diryl joined the US ARMY in December of 1942. He served in the European Theatre and among the battles he participated in was the famous Battle of the Bulge which was a turning point in the war. After returning home, Diryl was a logger and a farmer/rancher for the rest of his years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed every aspect of farm life, days spent on the tractor cutting hay and brush hogging for the public. He loved growing and tending to his garden, of which he peddled his vegetables and shared them with everyone he could. Diryl enjoyed raising cattle and in later years taking care of his puppies, Jill, Jack and Cocoa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene; and 2 sisters and a brother. Diryl leaves to cherish his memory his son, Dennie Johnson of the Redland Community and special friend, Shirley Brownfield of Mannsfield, LA ; grandchildren, Lisa Scott and husband, Jay of Haworth, OK, Kellie Johnson, Johnna Dunavant and husband, Shaun all of Winnsboro, TX and Christi Johnson of Idabel, OK; great-grandchildren, Laci Scott of Haworth, OK, Brandi Drennan, Keaton McElroy, Sarah McElroy, Zoie Folmar and Axton Dunavant all of Winnsboro, TX and Amber Andrew of Idabel, OK; great-great-grandchildren, David and Kaycee Moore of Haworth, OK, Baelin, Kyler and Jaylin Gillis and Blayze McElroy all of Winnsboro, TX; caretaker and dear friend, Sarah Barber of Haworth, OK; and a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
