Obituary of Wayne Sossamon

Broken Bow resident Charlie “Wayne” Sossamon, 77, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2007. He was born February 21, 1930 in Shinewell, Oklahoma to Maude Frady and Virgil Sossamon. Wayne was of the Assembly of God faith and attended church at Hochatown. He lived most of his life in McCurtain County. He retired from Weyerhaeuser railroad after dedicated service for 18 years. Wayne never met a stranger and was always willing to visit. He loved listening to country music and to the Grand Ol’ Opry on TV. He always cared how people were feeling and if they were feeling bad he would try to cheer them up. He gave his life to the Lord in 1993 and believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He married Dorothy Hester in Broken Bow and had a very special place in his heart for her twin daughters, Lisa and Renessa. They were like his own children. Wayne was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy; his parents; 4 brothers, Dan, Virgil Read, T.J. and James Earl Sossamon; and 1 sister Gussie Hester. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Wayne and Brenda Sossamon of Hochatown; 3 aunts, Nina, Verna and Fannie; a special nephew, Trevor Matlock; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
