Obituary of Ruth Burks

Ruth R. Ammons Burks went home on March 15, 2016, at the age of 96. She was born on July 13, 1919 in Alabama, the daughter of John and Molcie Adams. She came to Texas as a baby and moved to Idabel in 1967. Ruth loved to cook for her family. She liked to work in her yard and she loved her church and church family at Central Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School from the time her son Tommy was 2 years old until she was 91. She truly loved the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leo Ammons and James L. Burks; 7 brothers and 1 sister. Ruth is survived by her son, Thomas “Tommy” Ammons and wife, Paula; daughters, Susan Jamison and husband Joe Bill, Carol Pope and husband, James; step-son, Jimmy Burks; 4 granddaughters, Robyn Ammons, Ashley Helton and husband Leon , Crystal Jamison, Traci Johnson and husband Guy; step-granddaughter, Dayla Burks; 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed.
