Obituary of Eldon Wayne Thurman

Eldon Wayne Thurman, age 78 passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on March 28, 1937 in Broken Bow, OK, the son of Roy and Cora Barber Thurman. Wayne was a 1955 graduate of Broken Bow High School. Wayne worked pipelining as a young man and later worked for a large newspaper in Georgia for a few years. He delivered bread for a bread company and most recently retired from Tyson Foods where he worked in security. Wayne loved to read and his favorites were western novels by Louis L'amour. He also enjoyed rodeo and gun collecting. Wayne was affiliated with the Baptist Faith and had lived most of his life in McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettye Pogue Thurman; an infant son, Brian Scott Thurman; brothers, Dalton Thurman and Jimmie Ray Thurman; and a sister, Norma Hannah. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sharon Thurman of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Thurman of Springtown, TX; granddaughter, Allison Thurman of Springtown, TX; step-son, Mike Godberson and Stacy of Pawnee, OK; sister, Brenda Magar of Broken Bow, OK; sister-in-law, Sarah Rolen of Idabel, OK; step-grandchildren, Gage, Gavin, Bella, Baylor, Holt and Insley; nephews, Cam Magar and Sherry and Adam Hannah and Christie all of Broken Bow, OK; a niece, Dana Hullum and Nathan of Canton, TX; several other relatives, friends and his beloved cat, "Blackie".
