Obituary of LaVerne Cole

LaVerne Cole, age 72 of Valliant, OK passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hugo, OK. She was born on February 15, 1943 at Artesia, NM, the daughter of James and Josie Little. She married her soul mate, Roy Cole on December 19, 1960 in Antlers, OK. LaVerne was a homemaker, a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking care of her family. She was very artistic, a talented painter and could make something beautiful out of most anything. Laverne was affiliated with the Valliant Assembly of God Church and had lived in McCurtain County since 1971. LaVerne was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stanley Cole; brothers, Reuben Little and Tommy Little; and a sister, Dorothy Igo. LaVerne is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy Cole of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David Cole and Nadine of Eagletown, OK; daughters and sons-in-law, Lonna Harrell and Chris of Rufe, OK, Carla Echols and Sammy of Valliant, OK and Lori Cole and Trindon Blackwell of Rufe, OK; brothers, Buddy Little of Cleveland, GA, Edward Little of Panama, OK and Charlie Little of Valliant, OK; sisters, Ethel Halstead of Alamogordo, NM and Sally Williamson of Clayton, OK; grandchildren, Jason Breshears, Casey Breshears, Cameron Cole, Patrick Cole, Cody Cole, Kelsey Beam, Matthew Cole, Kim Butler, Macie Taylor, Derrick Taylor, Cory Cole, Kenzy Howell, Beau Norris, Amber Slemp, Haley Chambers and Anna May; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Valliant Assembly of God Church in Valliant, OK with Bro. Scott Stuart officiating. Interment will follow at the Moran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
