Obituary of Ramona Jean Hardwick

Ramona Jean (Kamradt) Hardwick age 81 of Idabel passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Idabel. She was born on February 9, 1934 in St Joseph, MI, the daughter of William and Athelia Meade Kamradt. Ramona was a 1952 graduate of St Joseph High School and then attended Mercy Hospital Nursing School where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Ramona spent several years on the mission field ministering and using her nursing degree. In 1959 she met and married Doy Gene Hardwick and for the next several years they traveled all over the world wherever his US Army career took them. They moved to Idabel in 1974 making their home in the Cisco Community until 1979 at which time they began travelling again. Ramona moved back to McCurtain County upon her husband's death in 1994. Ramona was a very active volunteer, her favorite organization being the American Red Cross. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Doy Gene Hardwick. Ramona is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, William Russell Hardwick of Puerto Rico and Donald Gene Hardwick and Bendette of Broken Bow, OK; a sister, Rana Joyce Melton of Stevensville, MI; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ramona spent her whole life doing what she loved and that was helping others and so it was her wish that her remains be used for medical research. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Red Cross.
