Obituary of Oleta Marie Martinez

Oleta Marie Martinez, age 65 of Idabel, OK passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Texarkana, TX. She was born July 4, 1950 in Talihina, OK, the daughter of Marcus and Rachel Watson Battiest. Oleta lived in Los Angeles, CA for many years, while there she was a member of Brighter Days Indian Church. She moved back to McCurtain County in 1990 and began working as a sewing operator for Hagel. Retiring after the plant closed she became a full time homemaker. Oleta attended Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wright City, OK. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Martinez; and brothers, Marcus R Battiest and Kenneth Battiest. Oleta leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rachel “Lilbit” Dixon and Daniel of Dierks, AR, Petra Pisani and Ernie Machado of Bakersfield, CA, Angela Pisani and Darrell Williston, Alisha Armenta, Jacqueline Armenta, Jennifer Pisani, Richard Luevano and Angelo Luevano all of Idabel, OK; sisters, Naomi Cruz and Evelio of Idabel, OK and Patricia Ponce of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren, Kevin Ward, Sarah Ward, Ladonna Ward, Derek Dixon, Angela Ramos, Katrina Tapia, Oleta Maria Lopez, Anthony Armenta and David Battiest; 13 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Monica Carillo; as well as many other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the White Family Chapel. Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, OK. A wake service will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the funeral home.
