Obituary of Farrell Jackson

Jerry Farrell Jackson, 82, of Idabel, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Oklahoma City, with his family at his side. Farrell was born January 21, 1933 in Goodwater, Oklahoma. He graduated from Haworth High School. He served in the United States Army, including a tour of service in the Korean War. He was an industrious businessman, having owned the Jackson Oil Company, Jackson Angus Farms, and other entities in McCurtain County. Farrell enjoyed crappie fishing with friends and family, and spending time in the deer woods of McCurtain County. He is remembered by his children and grandchildren as being constantly kind, thoughtfully generous, and fun-loving. One favorite family memory is his baptism at the age of 36 at First Baptist Church in Idabel, on the same day and in the same waters with his oldest daughter. Another special memory is reflecting on his skills as a chef, particularly grilling ribeye just before sunset aboard his houseboat on Broken Bow Lake. Farrell is remembered fondly by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Daddy" and "Pop." Farrell is survived by his two daughters: Carla and Danny Daniels of Tishomingo, and Beverly and Gordon Walker, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Kelcey Daniels Upton and her husband, Bryant, Spencer Upton, Natalea Harcrow, and Carli Upton; Chase Daniels and his wife, Whitney, and Brock, Brody and Brax Daniels; Blake Daniels and his wife, Jaisa; and Brooks Walker and Annie Walker; brothers Denny Jackson and his wife, June of Goodwater; Sam Jackson and wife Pat, of Foreman, AR; and sisters Melba Sorrels of Sweet Home, OR and Sheila Jackson of Shinewell, OK; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fate and Cressie Jackson; his brother, Truel Jackson; brother-in-law, Buddy Sorrels; and his grandson, Clay Walker. Services will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at the White Funeral Home in Idabel, OK. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery in Goodwater, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the funeral home. His family would like to offer their thanks to their friends at Legend on Council Road Assisted Living Community in Oklahoma City, where Farrell lived since late 2011, as well as all of his physicians and their staffs in both Idabel and Oklahoma City, particularly Waddah Nassar, MD of Oklahoma City, for their compassionate love and care in recent years, as well as the physicians, nurses, chaplains and staff at the Integris Hospice House, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Philadelphia Cemetery, (c/o Idabel National Bank, 1201 SE Washington, Idabel, OK 74745, Attn: Bank Teller); or Special Care, Inc., 12201 N Western, Oklahoma City, 73114.
