Obituary of Jess A. Willis

Jess A. Willis, age 88 of Broken Bow, Oklahoma passed away, June 4, 2015 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Jess was born May 29, 1927 in the Shults community outside of Idabel. He was the son of Jesse Arthur and Oda (Gragg) Willis. He was proud to serve his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a welder in his younger years and worked at Weyerhaeuser in Valliant the last 10 years before retiring. He was married to Laverne Howard for 25 years and she was the love of his life. He loved to hunt, fish, and tinker. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Howard Willis; his parents Jesse Arthur and Ora Gragg Willis; brothers, Lonnie, Denzil, and Kenneth & Derward; sisters, Izora, Syble and Kathryn. Jess is survived by: his sons, James Allen and wife Cindi, of Selma, OR, Jesse Darrell and wife Cindy of Holly Creek, Kevin and wife Yvonne of Broken Bow, OK; daughter, Becky and husband Lance Fletcher of Broken Bow; step-daughters, Bonnie Willis-Pittman of Concord, CA, Bryan and Sherry Clay of Idabel and Mary Lou Hunter and husband Mitch of Clayton; a cousin, Charles Ward of California. He had 30 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; on the bypass in Idabel on Monday, June 8th at 9:00 A.M. Pres. Wayne Schwerin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Denison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to your local church charity of your choice.
