Obituary of Leatrice Coffman

Leatrice Coffman, age 71, of the Redland Community, OK passed away on Monday, May4, 2015 at Texarkana, TX. She was born on February 16, 1944 in the Redland Community, the daughter of Emmett and Dovie Shropshire Mills. Leatrice married Phillip Coffman on March 23, 1963 at the Redland Church of Christ and they made their home in the Redland Community, where they raised two daughters. Phillip preceded her in death in 2012. Leatrice was a 1962 graduate of Haworth High School. While in school Leatrice was a very talented basketball player and was a starter on the state championship winning team her sophomore year. She continued to be an avid sports fan and lifelong Haworth Lion supporter. Leatrice later became a big OKC Thunder fan and really enjoyed attending their games. She worked as a social worker at the OK Dept. of Human Services and retired as a supervisor after over 35 years of service. Leatrice was well liked at DHS and made many close friends during her career. She enjoyed playing dominoes. Leatrice was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Redland Church of Christ. Leatrice was a very loving mother and grandmother and she cherished the time spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip Coffman; a brother, Leon Mills; and sisters, Geneva Beatrice Mills, Dewanda Sue Mills and Barbara Jean Mills. Leatrice is survived by her daughters, Teresa Coffman of Dickinson, ND and Tammy Coffman Tidwell of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Joshua Williams and wife, Gina of Leawood, KS, Jennifer Williams Skieens of Broken Bow, OK, Jordan Coffman of Dallas, TX and Blade Tidwell of Broken Bow, OK; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Taygan, Raley, Emma, Jude, Tripp and Caroline; a brother, Emett Mills Jr. and wife, Marjorie of Broken Bow, OK; a special friend, Allene Shelton of the Redland Community; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Redland Church of Christ in the Redland Community, OK with Victor Balagbagan officiating. Interment will follow at Redland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
