Obituary of Glenn F Rhodes

Glenn F. Rhodes, age 84 of Idabel, OK passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Paris, TX. He was born on June 6, 1930 in Messer, OK , the son of William Jennings Rhodes and Fannie Lee Forbus Rhodes. Glenn was a 1949 graduate of Hugo High School and received his bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma. Glenn was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served in the 327th Bomb Squadron of the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War. He owned and operated Glenn Rhodes Accounting for over 35 years in Idabel. During this time his many employees and clients became like family. Glenn was active in his community often preferring to help but without anyone ever knowing. He was a member of the Idabel Lions Club. Glenn had made his home in Idabel since 1965 moving from Hugo. Glenn was a devout Christian. He was a member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for many years. He also served as a Deacon and Elder at different times. Glenn was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Lynn Griffith; a daughter-in-law, Gay Rhodes; infant granddaughter, Laura Rhodes; and brothers, Dr. Jerry Rhodes and Jay Rhodes. Glenn is survived by his wife, Doris Rhodes of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Joe Rhodes of Idabel and Roger and Kit Rhodes of Negaunee, MI; grandchildren, Brian Banta of Idabel, OK, Joshua and Adrienne Rhodes of Ft. Bragg, NC, Caleb Rhodes of Abilene, TX, Julia Rhodes of Flynt, MI, Brianna Beezley of Stephenville, TX and Peter and Jen Griffith of Wylie, TX; great-grandchildren, Tusken Rhodes, Aaron Beezley, Chassidy Beezley and Ben Beezley; brothers and sisters-in-law, A.L. Dusty Rhodes and Nancy of Abilene, TX and Foy Rhodes and Louise of Hugo, OK; sisters and brother-in-law, Willene Farris and Lee of San Antonio, TX and Gerene Taylor of Hugo, OK; a sister-in-law, Andrea Rhodes of Dallas, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and former employees and clients.
