Obituary of James Compton

James Arnold “Buddy” Compton, 86, left his earthly home on April 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. James was born February 1, 1929 in Honey Grove community of Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Frank James Compton and Thelma Swan Compton. He was in the US Army and served in World War II. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen Glover Compton, his brothers, Lester Carroll Compton, Donald Wayne Compton, Charles William Compton, his brother-in-law, Erwin Underwood, and his sons, James Michael Compton and David Lee Compton. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Compton Harwell and her husband, Henry of Sachse, TX, and Nina “Tug” Compton Underwood of Sachse, TX. Also, by his children, Jerry Wayne Compton and his wife, Regena of Smithdale, MS, Patricia Nunnery Dillon and her husband, Stephen of Tylertown, MS, Linda Compton Williams and her husband, Danny Guy of Smithdale, MS, Carol Compton Wells and her husband, Joey of Bogue Chitto, MS, Laura Compton Hodges, and her husband, Robert of Bogue Chitto, MS, Larry Arnold Compton of Quinlin, TX, Mary Compton Lomax of McComb, MS, and John David Compton and his wife, Sabrina of Quinlin, TX. As well as, by his grandchildren, James Lane Nunnery and his wife, Emily of Houston, TX, Christopher Daniel Nunnery of Cold Springs, TX, Paula Dianne Nunnery of Cedar Park, TX, Jobina Mei Khoo of Hattiesburg, MS, Steven Guy Williams and his wife, Audrey of Smithdale, MS, Michael Sean Compton of McComb, MS, Kathy Ann Compton of McComb, MS, Krista Wells and her husband, William Speights of Brookhaven, MS, Jason Brett Wells of McComb, MS, Monika Hodges Price and her husband, William of Bogue Chitto, MS, Robert Alan Hodges of Bogue Chitto, MS, Kenneth “Mason” Lomax of McComb, MS, Matthew “Flint” Welch of Fayetteville, AR, and Amanda Michelle Welch of New Orleans, LA. Additionally, by his great grandchildren, Brittney Nunnery Martin and Michael of Norfolk, VA, Brenna Paige Nunnery of Nacogdoches, TX, and soon-to-be Jase Cole Price of Bogue Chitto, MS. And, by his nieces and nephews, Lisa Harwell Camp and her husband Greg of Sachse, TX, Dennis Harwell and his wife, Susan, in Telephone, TX, Jimmy Underwood of Idabel, OK, and Stephen Camp of Sachse, TX. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Mr. Rex. Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at White Family Funeral Home of Idabel, OK. The service will follow at 2:00 pm at White Family Chapel with Rev. Greg Camp officiating. He will be laid to rest at Rockhill Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK. Pallbearers will be James Lane Nunnery, Christopher Daniel Nunnery, Michael Sean Compton, Jason Brett Wells, Steven Guy Williams, and Robert Alan Hodges. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mason Lomax.
