Obituary of Hot Shot Pond

Vernon "Hot Shot" Pond, age 88 longtime resident of the Tom, OK area passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Texarkana, TX. He was born on February 12, 1927 in Foreman, AR, the son of Roy and Loraine Beasley Pond. Hot Shot worked in the timber industry most of his life. He loved to fish and enjoyed dancing and country music. He was affiliated with the Church of God. Hot Shot was a loving and devoted father, grandfather. He loved being with his family and they will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora Mae Friend Pond; a son, Jimmie Clark; brothers, Glen Pond and James Pond; sisters, Ivy Lansdell, Cleo Payne, Edna Peters and Evelyn Vandiver; son-in-law, Kenny Allen; and great-granddaughter, Lacey Lansdell. Hot Shot is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Tina Pond, Roger and Dee Pond and James and Angie Pond all of Atlanta, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and David Randolph of Tom, OK, Darlene and Lloyd Ridge of Garvin, OK, Ferderick and Ricky Jenkins of Atlanta, TX, Lola Allen of Idabel, OK, Brenda and Roy Farley of Garvin, OK, Denise Pond of Wichita Falls, TX and Debbie Bates of Tom, OK; 38 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Haworth Assembly of God Church in Haworth, OK with Bro Lloyd Ridge officiating. Interment will follow at Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman, AR. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home.
