Obituary of Rita Biggs

Rita Harris Biggs, age 65, passed away on February 27, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rita was born August 14, 1949 in Pleasant Hill, Oklahoma, the daughter of Elmer and Lorene Harris. She was a very loving and caring person and a devout Christian. Rita moved to the Dallas area in 1969 where she became a charter member of the Mesquite Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She excelled in homemaking as well as in the public workforce. She was last employed with Buckner Baptist Children and Family Services of Dallas, where she served as first assistant to its director. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Donna Lane Parr. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty-seven years, Johnny Wayne Biggs of Idabel; two sons, Paul Reese Biggs of Terrell, Texas, and John Kevin Biggs of Durant, Oklahoma; one grandson, Justin Reese Biggs of Terrell; one granddaughter, Alyssa Leann Cuba of Dallas; one brother, Max Harris and wife Austine of Texarkana, Texas; three sisters, Sarah Pradarits and husband Richard of Mesquite, Texas; Galaine Lane and husband Sidney of Texarkana; Carolyn Grigory and husband Grady of Broken Bow; her mother-in-law, Millie Biggs of Dallas; a special sister-in-law, Debbie Johnson and husband Randy, and Michael and Melissa, all of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Teena Biggs of Mesquite, TX; and long-time friends, Kit Dillard and husband Donnie of Oklahoma City and Danny and Judy Balagbagan of the Redland Community, OK; eight nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015 at White Family Chapel with Rev. Oscar Wilkie officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
