Obituary of William Vanaken

William “Bill” Junior Vanaken, age 61, of Idabel, OK passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Idabel, OK. He was born on March 11, 1953 in Galveston, TX, the son of William Pierce and Lavona Lee Monk Vanaken. Bill worked for Tyson Foods for several years where he was known as “Dollar Bill”. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a wonderful story teller. Bill was an avid collector of jewelry, M & Ms, Hot Wheels, and sports trading cards. He had lived in McCurtain County since 2000 moving from Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Henry Vanaken; mother-in-law, Barbara Rogers; father-in-law, Billy Henry Burris; and a step-daughter, Tiffanyann Nicole Bonner. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Tonya Vanaken, of the home; sons, Rob Vanaken and wife, Kim, of Florida and Greg Vanaken of Salem, Oregon; step-daughter, Rebecca Rogers Johnson of New Boston, TX; step-sons, Chuck Rogers and Tracy Bonner, both of Idabel, OK and Michael Rogers of New Boston, TX; brothers, Billy Joe Vanaken of Idabel, OK and Randy Vanaken of TX; two sisters; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; three god-children; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
