Obituary of Bob Baker

Robert "Bob" Lee Baker, age 86 of Garvin, OK passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Texarkana, TX. He was born on January 29, 1929 in Glenwood, Iowa, the son of Guy and Bessie Sanquist Baker. Bob married Joan Sue Barrett on June 5, 1955 and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2008. Bob served two years in the US Army at the end of WWII. In 1949 he joined the US Navy where he made a career of it retiring in 1969 as a Chief Petty officer after 20 years of service. He worked 17 years for Oklahoma State University as a superintendent for tree improvement. He was a longtime scout master for troop 363 in Garvin, OK. Bob enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Bob was affiliated with the Baptist Faith and had called McCurtain County home since 1953. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, Michael Baker and Cameron Baker; a granddaughter, Samantha Baker; and several brothers and sisters. Bob is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Robin Baker of Garvin, OK and Paul and Lori Baker of Detroit, TX; daughter, Tommy Sue McCutcheon of Garvin, OK; grandchildren, Kyle and Jayce McCutcheon of Garvin, OK, Andy and Nicole McCutcheon of Garvin, OK, Nikki and Joey DeFalco of Mandeville, LA, Mykee and Charles Battles of Broken Bow, OK, Ariel and Cole Lockwood of Ringling, OK, Lindsay Baker of Broken Bow, OK, Ashlyn Baker of Broken Bow, OK, Jasmine Sherrell of Idabel, OK and Titus and Jessalynn Dollar of Idabel, OK; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Forest Hill Cemetery in the Forest Grove Community, OK with Bro. Russell McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the funeral home.
