Obituary of Bobby Nelson

Bobby Nelson, age 70, of Melissa, TX passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at McKinney, TX. He was born on October 5, 1944, the son of Delbert and Mildred Jones Nelson. Bobby was raised in the Tom, OK area but spent many years living in Texas. Bobby worked as a truck driver, as well as a pipefitter in construction. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam as a tank commander. Bobby loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid outdoors and enjoyed Beavers Bend, Turner Falls and the Shenandoah Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donny Nelson. Bobby is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Daniel Watkins of Melissa, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jami Nelson of Roulett, TX and Steven and Laurie Nelson of Katy, TX; a sister, Jean Weathers of the Shults Community, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Irene Nelson of Tom, OK and Mike and Margie Nelson of Colorado; 7 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Tom Baptist Church with Rev. Miles Wesner officiating. Interment will follow at the Tom Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the funeral home.
