Obituary of Sonny Tom

Benjamin Mose "Sonny" Tom, age 58, of Idabel, OK, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Idabel, OK. He was born on January 1, 1957 in Talihina, OK. Sonny was a saw mill worker and most recently worked at Woods Lumber. He was very proud of his Native American heritage and enjoyed bead work making many bracelets and necklaces as well as playing the Native American Flute. Sonny also enjoyed fishing and reading. He was a member of the Bokchito Methodist Church and was a lifetime resident of the Idabel area. A devoted father and grandfather he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Calvin Tom and Evelyn Robinson Tom Frazier; his wife, Sue Tom; and a brother Buddy Tom. Sonny leaves to cherish his memory his son, Sonny Tom of Idabel, OK: daughters and sons-in-law, Latisha Tom and Reggie, Latonya Tom and Jay and Cesha Tom all of Idabel, OK and Annie Tom of Rustin, LA; brothers, Johnathan Stewart of Oklahoma City, OK and Billy Joe Voss of Idabel, OK; sisters, Sandra Tom of Altus, OK and Donna Robinson of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Darren Mitchell, Brenden Tom, Mazia Serrano, Korin Haney, Jazney Shomo, Sonny Mose Tom, Kercee Tom, Mezmerize Tom, Kyla Williams and Denyen Tom; nephews, Michael Tom, Tecumseh McDaniel and Armstrong Stewart; nieces, Tracy Bowman, Lisa Robinson, Mary Helms, Sunshine McDaniel and Regina Belvin; his best friend, Doug Burke; several other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Bokchito Methodist Church with Bro. Curtis Stewart and Bro. Tommy Wesley officiating. Interment will follow at Canfield Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
