Obituary of Paul Brinkley

James Paul Brinkley, age 72 of Idabel, OK passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Little Rock, AR. He was born on May 25, 1942 in Idabel, the son of Robert "Bob" Brinkley and Lorene Williams Brinkley. Paul was raised in the Haworth area and was a 1959 graduate of Haworth High School. He had lived in the Shinewell Community for over 30 years until moving to Idabel 2 years ago. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served for 4 years during the Vietnam War Era. Paul was a retired truck driver. He hauled cement out of the Foreman Cement Plant for over 35 years. Paul was very talented with his hands and could fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling with his wife, boating at the lake, woodworking and spending time with his family. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful provider for his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bobby Brinkley. Paul is survived by his wife, Lin of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Shelby and Kimberly Brinkley of Vancouver, WA and Jason and Karen Brinkley of Cabot, AR; grandchildren, Kennedy Brinkley, Karsyn Brinkley, Madison Brinkley and Savannah Brinkley; a brother, Joe Brinkley; and a sister, Evelyn Nichols; several nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK with Rev. David Mercer and Rev. Landon Middleton officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
