Obituary of Carolyn McGovern

Carolyn McGovern, age 67, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on December 14, 1946 in Idabel. Carolyn married Gwin McGovern on January 8, 1971 in Mexia, TX. Carolyn managed a finance company for several years. She also worked at the roadrunner convenience store for a time. Carolyn enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She had lived her entire life in the Idabel area. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Griffin and Mildred Murdoch Griffin; and a special aunt and uncle who raised her, John and Lucille Murdoch. Carolyn is survived by her husband Gwin of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Bianca and Ryan Battiest of Rowlett, TX and Darlous Johnson of Siloam Springs, AR; sons and daughter-in-law, Clarke Iglehart of Idabel, OK and Jimmy and Tina Sands of Panama, OK; grandchildren, Trae Iglehart, Nacona Steelman, Peyton Iglehart, Dayla Steelman, Kayla McGovern, Sharla Steelman and Amber Battiest; great-granddaughter, Shaina Steelman; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Joyce Turner of Kilgore, TX; special cousins, Bobby and Terri Franklin, Virginia and Wayne Bean and Freddie Murdoch; special friends, Jo Payne-Rhea and Barbara Maroney both of Idabel, OK; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Aubrey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the funeral home.
