Obituary of Larry Whaley

Larry Michael Whaley, age 69 passed from this life on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Idabel, OK. He was born on April 17, 1945 in Oakland, CA, the son of W.O. Whaley and Helen Rice Whaley. Larry was a decorated veteran of U.S. Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam, where he earned several medals including a Purple Heart. He was a life long farmer. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed gardening and going to auctions. Larry was a sports fan and especially enjoyed attending his nieces softball games. Larry was devoted to his family and his many friends and loved spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Lea Whaley. Larry is survived by two sisters, Jan Lancaster of Idabel and Peggy Wilson of Beaumont Texas; devoted friend and former wife, Jammie Whaley of Idabel; three nephews, Michael Lancaster and wife Audra of North Carolina, Greg Lancaster and wife Pattie of Idabel, Van Wilson and wife Casey of Spring, TX; a niece, Sherry Walton and husband Critt of Sugarland, TX; 4 great-nephews and 5 great-nieces; a host of other relatives, friends and acquaintances. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Larry Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow at the Canfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the funeral home.
