Obituary of Mattie Bell

Ida Mattie (Homes) Bell, age 90 longtime Idabel, OK resident passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Paris, TX. She was born on July 9, 1924 in Amity, AR. Mattie owned and operated Bell's Bait Shop south of Idabel for over 60 years. She loved helping her customers and made many friends over the years. She enjoyed fishing and playing dominos. Mattie was a lifetime resident of the Idabel area. Mattie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family very much and cherished the time she spent with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; John Alec and Elizabeth Holmes Homes; her husband, Floyd Roscoe Bell; a daughter, Mary Bryan; and a son, Andy Bell; brothers, William Homes and Andrew Homes; and sister, Fannie Homes. Mattie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Curtis Elmore of Deport, TX; son-in-law, John A Bryan of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Amanda and Eldon McBride of Idabel, OK, Saundra Baser and Pam McKee both of Blossom, TX, John Bryan and Cathy, DeWayne Bryan and Kim all of Valliant, OK, Bobby Elmore and Keitha of Mt. Pleasant, TX and Chris Murray and Kristie of Idabel, OK; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Bro. Mike Mings officiating. Interment will follow at the Canfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
