Obituary of James Henry Martin

James Henry Martin, age 81, of Idabel, OK passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Broken Bow, OK. He was born on October 1, 1932 in Tom, OK, the son of James Clarvel and Nannie Park Martin. He was raised in the Tom, OK area. James joined the US Air Force at an early age and was very proud of his service to his country. He was a gifted heavy equipment operator and formed his successful business Martin Construction in 1954. James was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Idabel, where he served as a Deacon. He was a master mason and a member of the Goodwater Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon Martin; son, James Michael Martin; a daughter, Teresa Ann Martin; and a step-daughter, Monica Coffman. James is survived by his sons, Ricky Martin of Valliant, Jerry Don Martin and James Henry Martin Jr., both of Idabel; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Darrel Hedrick of Spencerville, OK; grandson, Steve Martin of Valliant, OK; granddaughters, Lisa Martin and Leah Somers, both of Idabel, Tori Elmquist of Oklahoma City, OK, Madison Martin of Broken Bow, OK, Dalaine Hedrick and Heather Hedrick, both of Spencerville, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Bro. Jerry Jeffcoat and Bro. Miles Wesner officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 31, 2014.
