Obituary of Evonne Hammonds

Evonne Hammonds, age 77 passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her home in the Shults Community, OK. She was born on June 25, 1937 in the Redland Community, OK, the daughter of Luther H and Edith Kay Keith Tolison. Evonne was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. She enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Evonne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ramona Turner; and several brothers and sisters. Evonne is survived by her husband, Robert "Bud" Hammonds of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula Jones of Vinita, OK, Edith and Bill O'Bryan of Tishomingo, OK, Linda and Bengi Strickland and Charlotte and Gary Rogers all of Tawonkia, TX; sisters, Betty Havens of the Pollard Community, OK and Joyce Strawn of Idabel, OK; step-children, Paul Hammonds of Idabel, OK, Kathy Hammonds of Haworth, OK, Jeannie McGrath of Mississippi and Robert and Jamie Hammonds of Haworth, OK; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK. The family requests if a flower offering is made to please consider a pot plant for there will not be an interment service directly following.
