Obituary of Virgie Mullens

Virgie Gray Mullens, age 82 passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on December 13, 1931 in Idabel, OK, the daughter of John C Gray Sr. and Ila Cooke Gray. Virgie was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. She worked at the McCurtain County Health Department for 21 years prior to that Virgie had worked several years at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital. Virgie served as a volunteer at both the Kiamichi Youth Shelter and the SOS for families. Virgie was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Claude Mullens in 2009; daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Charlie Hampton; a sister, Faye Six; her brothers, Ivy Gray, Joseph Gray, Ed Gray, John C Gray Jr., Loyd Gray Sr. and Aubrey Gray. Virgie leaves to cherish her memory her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Floyd Buckley; daughters and sons-in-law, Glynda and Glen Curlee of Ada, OK, Sharon and Jeff DeVille and Donna and Terry Hampton all of Idabel, OK; a son, Joseph Mullens of Idabel, OK; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Bro. Jason Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
