Obituary of Dock Jones

Dock Jones, age 76, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born in the Harris Community, OK on November 16, 1937, the son of Ernest and Ruby Porton Jones. Dock was a graduate of Haworth High School. He married Ella Nora Wenger on December 22, 1959 in Idabel, OK and she preceded him in death in 2011. Dock was a veteran of the US Army. A local business man, he owned and operated Head Hunters Barber Shop for over 40 years and along with his wife were former owners of the Gemini Coffee Shop. Dock made many friends through the years at the barber shop and many of his customers had received their very first haircut there. He enjoyed working and taking care of his yard and was a lifetime resident of the Idabel area. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Andrew Jones and wife, Jean; his sister, Faye Henthorn and husband, Mike; his in-laws, Ivan and Nora Wenger. Dock is survived by his son, Dr. Wayne Jones of Durant, OK; daughters Renee Haynes and husband, Ken of Jenks, OK and Donna Jones of Idabel, OK; his grandchildren, Chris Haynes and wife, Rebecca of Ardmore, OK, Jordan, Drew, Emily, and Johnny Berg all of Catoosa, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and loyal customers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Doug Clements officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery.
