Obituary of Pat H Baxter

Pat H. Baxter Jr., age 95, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on February 1, 1919 in the Bokhoma Community, OK, the son of Pat H. Baxter Sr. and Irma Bills Baxter. Pat was raised in the Haworth area and went to work at a very young age. He worked at a CCC Camp during the later years of the Great Depression and joined the US Army in 1942. During World War II he served in the European Theatre, at Sicily, Southern France, Rome and in the Rhineland. He later became a pipeline welder and his work took him all over the world. Pat worked for several companies during his career including Williams Brothers, Chicago Bridge and Iron and Neil Price International. An avid studier of the bible he had a deep faith in God. He enjoyed cards, dominos and solving puzzles. Pat was a devoted father and a good provider for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Harkrider Baxter; sons, Tommy Baxter and Doug Baxter; a brother Michael Oscar Baxter; and sisters, Marzell Fisher, Artie Zangarin, Katherine Cox and Marie Cox. Pat is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Patrick H "Wimp Baxter III and Donna of Idabel, OK and John Michael Baxter of Mesquite, TX; sisters, Pauline Stansell of Hindsville, AR, Betty Jo Hardwick of Hochatown, OK and Edna Joiner of Idabel, OK; 9 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
