Obituary of Freda Mae Austin

Freda Austin, age 66 of the Holly Creek Community, OK passed from her earthly life on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Texarkana, TX. She was born on December 7, 1947 in Santa Anna, CA, the daughter of Sam and Betty Jo Kincaid Webb. Freda was a 1966 graduate of Broken Bow High School and received her masters in special education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She married Bill Austin on January 27, 1968 in Broken Bow, OK. She was a very special and loving lady who changed the lives of many through her everyday example and her work in education. Freda was a wonderful wife, a spectacular mother, loving grandmother, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Webb and her maternal grandparents, WB and Bessie Kincaid. Freda leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bill Austin of the home; mother, Betty Jo Webb of Broken Bow, OK sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Amy of Rockwall, TX and Tyson and Meghann Austin of Rogers, AR; daughters, Kim and Wade Thomason of Blacksburg, VA and Bethany Austin of Bedford, VA; and grandbabies, Anna, Kennedy, Ellie, McKinley and Mary Claire; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Pat Webb of Broken Bow, OK; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives, friends and former students. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the White Family Chapel with Rev. David Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at the Hochatown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a fund which has been set up in Freda's name at the McCurtain County National Bank. These funds will be used to help meet the needs of the students at Denison School.
