Obituary of Mary Ellen Coffman

Mary Ellen Coffman, age 80, of Idabel, OK passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Paris, TX. She was born on June 22, 1933 in Dalhart, TX, the daughter of George and Gladys Adkins White. Mary Ellen lived in Oklahoma City for many years where she worked for Fidelity Bank. She and her husband, Art, moved their family to Idabel, OK in 1980 where they owned and operated Idabel Transmission Service on HWY 70 West. Mary Ellen worked at First State Bank in Idabel and later American State Bank in Broken Bow. Art passed away in 1989 and Mary Ellen returned to Oklahoma City to be near her daughter. She went to work for Bank of Oklahoma and retired in February of 2002. Mary Ellen returned to Idabel in 2011. She enjoyed watching golf on television and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 8 of Idabel. Mary Ellen was a member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Idabel when her health permitted. Her faith in God and prayer was strong, she loved to talk about God, his promises, the Bible and Heaven. She was a devoted wife, mother and loved God, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur “Art” Coffman; and a daughter, Karolyn Rae Holloway Vandeventer. Mary Ellen leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Holloway of McKinney, TX; step-daughter, Amy Coffman of Moore, OK; step-sons, Bryan Coffman of Oklahoma City, OK and Brent Coffman of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Matthew Vandeventer of Oklahoma City, OK; step-granddaughters, Alyssa Coffman of Oklahoma City, Kristen Shimp of Little Elm, TX and Brooke Doak and husband, Logan, of Grand Prairie, TX; great-grandson, Gabriel Platt of Oklahoma City, OK; several other loved ones and many friends. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Denison Cemetery with Bro. Doug Clements officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
