Obituary of Ailean Harris

Ailean Harris, age 79, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born September 2, 1934 in the Redland Community, the daughter of Randolph and Anna Beth Brown Crowell. Ailean was a graduate of Idabel Gray High School and attended Southeastern where she received her bachelor's degree. Ailean was a teacher and principal at Denison School for many years. She influenced and helped to mold the lives of many young people during her teaching career. Ailean was a member of the Bypass Church of Christ. She was an avid bluegrass music fan and loved traveling around to the different bluegrass festivals. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Lee Harris; daughter, Keturah Harris; a sister, Betty Haughney; son-in-law, David Heffley; and a brother-in-law, James Mills. Ailean is survived by her daughter, Tamara Heffley of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Keturah Padgett and Wayne of Idabel, OK, Jonathan Heffley of Pauls Valley, OK and Bobby Heffley of Idabel, OK; great-grandchildren, Ivy Watkins, Beth Watkins and Blaine Lambert; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Mills of Idabel, OK, Jean Monday of Wasilla, AK and Geraldine and Donald Bates of the Goodwater Community, OK; her best friend, Ernesteen Chrisman of Idabel, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends and former students. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Harris Cemetery in the Harris Community, OK with Jerry Falling officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
