Obituary of Joey Hawthorne

Joseph Walter Hawthorne III, age 39, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his home in Millerton, OK. He was born on July 25, 1974 to Brenda and JW Hawthorne II in Denver City, TX. Joey was raised from the age of 31/2 years by Carolyn and Larry Powell and lived most of his life in McCurtain County. Being disabled, Joey helped to start several multi-handicap classes in the schools he attended. He enjoyed camping, playing in water, babies and watching children run and play. Joey was a member of the Glory Baptist Church in Wright City and loved attending services where he especially enjoyed the music. He truly loved the Lord. Joey was loved by all who knew and he loved everyone he met. He stole everyone's heart with his big brown eyes and wonderful smile. He goes to heaven to join his biological father, JW Hawthorne II; dad, Larry Powell; sisters, Carol Masters and Windy Haley; brother-in-law, Eric Masters; and grandparents, Amos and Geneva Hopper. Joey leaves to cherish his memory his biological family, Brenda Downs of Centerlake, MS and brothers and sisters; adoptive family of the home, his mom, Carolyn Powell along with Shawnathon Bounds, Armador Rodriquez, Veronica Khan, Matthew Khan, Caroline Khan, JesaLee Parsons, Laura Parsons, Toni Powell, Brandon and Keri Dollar, Jared Haley, Cyndi Haley, Shawn Haley, his Church family at Glory Baptist, many other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Troy Blue officiating. Interment will follow at the Glover Cemetery in Glover, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
