Obituary of William Jessie

William G. Jessie (Bill), 88, of Idabel, OK, passed away at the home of his daughter in Sorrento, Florida on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Bill was born on March 22, 1925 to the late Ida Maytubbi Thompson and George Jessie, and was a member of the Kulli Tuklo Methodist Church in Idabel, OK. He was a respected and loved member of his church. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and was very proud of his service to the Navy. He loved the game of golf and even built his own putting green and called it the McCurtain County Golf Course. He is preceded in death by his son William G. Jessie, Jr., his mother and father, brothers Alexander Jessie and Julius Davis, his sisters Eliza James and Virginia Osborne. Bill is survived by his sisters, Jackie Marris and her husband Arlie, Hartshorne, OK, Esther Gray, Hartshorne, OK, Lenora Clark and husband Louis, Haworth, OK, daughters Cynthia Long and husband Thomas of Sorrento, FL and Lisa Jessie, Santa Fe, NM, his grandchildren, Heather Jessie, Baltimore, MD, and Joshua Goodrich, Haworth, OK, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the funeral home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Kulli Tuklo Methodist Church with the burial immediately following with military honors.
