Obituary of Hazel Johnson

Floy Hazel Mitchell Johnson, age 99 of Idabel, OK passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She was born on October 23, 1914 in Lewisville, AR. Hazel married Robert (Bob) Johnson on October 17, 1937 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter 202 and the past president of the 1972 Women's Club. Hazel participated in other civic clubs as well as the American Red Cross thru the years. She worked for the Oklahoma Extension Service, First State Bank and the Idabel National Bank before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hansel Floyd Mitchell and Ina May Minter Mitchell; her husband, Bob Johnson; an infant baby girl; a sister, Arlene Crank; a brother, Hulon Mitchell; niece, Margaret Crank; nephew, Larry Taylor; and a special cousin, Sonny Minter. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Doyle Mitchell and wife, Jerri of Texas City, TX; nieces, Linda Jackson and husband, John of Springhill, LA and Sandra Taylor of Tyler, TX; nephews, Hansel Crank of Tyler, TX, Enyart Mitchell and wife, Gene of Louisiana; several great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Andy Bowman officiating. A private interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK.
