Obituary of Jeannie Hutton

Jeannie Hutton, 71, Idabel, formerly of Del City, died on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. She was born January 21, 1942, to James and Eara Harman in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lisa Bailey; her son, Peter Hutton; her sister, Jimmie Lou Wilson; her brother-in-law, Carl Wilson; and her niece, Cathy Soule. Jeannie was a graduate of Wynnewood High School, where she was a twirler with the Savage Marching Band and a talented clarinetist with the concert band. She was a devoted member of the Del City Church of Christ and later the Bypass Church of Christ of Idabel. At these congregations, she served as a first and second grade Bible School teacher for more than 35 years. She enjoyed performing with the Mid-Del Singers while still living in the city; later, she continued her love of singing with her friends at By-Pass. She was an employee of the state of Oklahoma for more than 20 years, working at Rose State College and later at the McCurtain County Department of Human Services. After moving to Idabel in 2002, she enjoyed camping and fly fishing with her husband Jim. Together they enjoyed following their grandchildren’s sporting events; they became spirited Idabel Warrior football, basketball and track fans. After their grandchildren’s graduations, she continued to support the Idabel Warriors, many of whom, like her grandchildren, called her “Mimi.” She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Hutton, and her daughter, Dianna Hamilton, and husband Walter, all of Idabel. She is also survived by her brother Mike Harman and wife Carolyn of Moore, and her sister Peggy Anderson of Seattle, Washington. Surviving grandchildren include Christa Sanders of Oklahoma City, Alex Fly of Oklahoma City, Katie Hamilton of Idabel, Rozlyn Hamilton of Edmond, and Grant Hamilton of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Surviving great-grandchildren include Malissa and Calton Sanders of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by nieces Barbara Wilson of Denver, Colorado, Angela Gore of Moore, and Christie Hopkins of Oklahoma City; and nephews Weldon Wilson of Edmond, Steve Wilson of Moore, Michael Harman of Oklahoma City, and Kenny Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona. Also missing Jeannie are her special friends Randee McDaniel and LaJuan Wright, her good friends from her Ladies’ Bible Class, and her devoted dog Murphy. Jeannie loved life, her family, and her church family. She will be missed by all. Family visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at White’s Family Funeral Home in Idabel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, at 10:00 a.m., at Ford Funeral Service Chapel in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Wounded Warriors.
