Obituary of Rick Stephens

Rick Stephens, age 58 of Idabel passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Tyler, TX. He was born on December 12, 1954 in Idabel, OK. Rick was a 1973 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. Rick and Tonya Whittington were married on September 20, 2003 at the Redland Methodist Church in the Redland Community, OK. He worked as a juvenile probation officer for Red River County Texas. Rick was an avid OSU Cowboy fan and enjoyed hunting and golfing. Rick and Tonya attended the Redland Methodist Church. Rick was a devoted husband and loved spending time with family and friends. His love of life and his wonderful contagious smile will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, James Stephens Jr and Gladys; and his step-father, Bill Kilgore. Rick leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tonya Stephens of the home; his mother, Sarah Kilgore of Idabel, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Tony Nichols of Idabel, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Brock and Jaime Whittington of the Redland Community, OK; grandchildren, Randi Nichols, Taylor Nichols, Jaden Whittington and Josie Whittington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Tyson McCoy Sr of Sanford, NC and Terri and Kevin Houston of Idabel, OK; mother-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Watson, OK; nieces and nephews, Heather and David Wicker and daughter, Harley, Tyson McCoy Jr and Chelsea and son, Ryder and Jody Trim; several other relatives and many friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Redland Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
