Obituary of Michael Earl Ebert

Michael Earl Ebert, age 53 of the Union Grove Community passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 29, 1960 in Idabel, OK, the son of Walter Mose Ebert and Earlene Cox Ebert. Michael was a lifelong resident of the Union Grove community, except for his time spent working and attending college in Durant. He was a member of the Haworth Assembly of God Church and also a member of the Idabel Kiwanis Club. Michael attended Haworth High School, graduating in 1978. He followed that by obtaining a Bachelor of Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1982. In 1999, he became a Registered Nurse, graduating from Paris Junior College. As a nurse, he touched the lives of many of his patients with his love and nurturing personality. He truly cared for his patients and always brightened their lives with his outgoing nature. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, and reading. He especially liked reading from the Bible. He loved meeting and talking to people. He will be remembered for the many wonderful stories he would tell and his larger than life personality. Michael was always involved in teasing his nieces and nephews and is fondly remembered as the Tickle Torture King, Chair Back Champion, and for his ability to tell a scary story like no other! He leaves his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews many fond memories to cherish. He always made time for each of them, indulging them in whatever pretend story they were playing. He was very generous and loved to pick and tease. The last few years of his life, he lived with his mother, serving as her caregiver and laughingly referring to himself as her chauffeur. He will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Mose Ebert; and a nephew, Billy Stuart Jr; paternal grandparents, Mose and Julie Ebert; and his maternal grandparents, Vivian and Earl Cox. Michael is survived by his mother, Earlene Ebert of the Union Grove Community; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and LaVerne Ebert of the Union Grove Community; sisters and brtohers-in-law, Terry and Poteet Victory of Santa Fe, NM and Tracie and Randy Kent of Tom, OK; nieces and nephews, Stacey Ebert, Clint Ebert, Bucky Stuart, Kelli Kent Phillips, Kaysi Kent Upton, Klark Kent and Ashlei Ebert Hanks; 8 great-nieces and great-nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Haworth Assembly of God Church with Rev. Philip Snow officiating. Interment will follow at the Haworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
