Obituary of Wanda Green

Wanda Green, age 87, of Idabel passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Memorial Heights Nursing Home with her family by her side. Wanda was born on March 25, 1926 in Dierks, Arkansas, the daughter of Jehu and Etta Young Gilbert. She married Thomas L. Green on January 9, 1943. Wanda and Leon lived in the Redland Community for most of their lives where they raised four children. She worked for many years as a sales clerk at The Grand Leader Department Store. She truly loved being outside working in the garden, growing flowers and red rose bushes. She loved animals especially her dogs and raising beef cattle. Most of all, she was devoted to her husband of 60 years and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great friend to many. Wanda was a minister’s wife for over 50 years while her husband, Leon, preached for congregations in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She was a faithful member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ and loved the Lord very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Leon Green; son-in-law, Anthony Clampet; sisters, Lola Gilbert Axton and Jean Gilbert Nichols. Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Joan Green of Idabel; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Clampet of Belton, TX, Debbie and Guy Bailey of Kissimmee, FL, and Sandy and Nickey Nichols of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Stacy Roberts and Mike, Stephanie Scott and Wes, Brian Clampet and Melody, Corey Green and Michelle, Kayla McDaniel and Brent, Nicole Byrom and Chad, Ashley Dominguez and Robert, Aaron Craig and Lindsey, and Colby Craig and Meredith; great-grandchildren, Shelby Roberts, Bailey Roberts, Mckenlee Scott, Ransom Scott, Fielder Scott, Blakely Clampet, Hayes Clampet, Connor Green, Kennedi Green, Jaci McDaniel, Brason McDaniel, Kalan McDaniel, Kiley Jo Byrom, Carson Byrom and Chloe Dominguez; other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Lynn Lane Church of Christ with Nickey Nichols and Virgil Romine officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
