Obituary of JW Roberson

John "JW" Roberson, age 84 of Idabel passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 22, 1929 in Arkinda, AR, the son of Sam and Elza Roberson. The family moved from Arkansas to Haworth, OK and later to Idabel, OK. JW married Betty Wade on January 22, 1961. JW was a journeyman welder and a member of Local 798 Pipe Liners Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. JW was known as one of the best crappie fishermen in McCurtain County and he and his wife Betty spent many hours fishing and camping with friends and family. He was also known as one of the best domino and pool players and people would come from all around to play him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Roberson; and sisters, Hazel Peters and Ruth Coleman. JW is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Judy Wade of Wake Village, TX; grandchildren, Dennise Burgess of Durant, OK, Jeff Wade of Wake Village, TX, Blake and Levi Vaughn of Durant, OK; and a beautiful great-great-granddaughter, Kadence Vaughn of Durant, OK; nephew, Benny Peters of Haworth, OK nieces, Dianna Edwards of Nash, TX and Jackie Micou of Valliant, OK; several other relatives and many friends.
